Cowtown Petition

“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men” (1 Tim. 2:1).

Matthew Henry writes, “supplications for the averting of evil, prayers for the obtaining of good, intercessions for others, and thanksgivings for mercies already received.” A supplication or petition is “that which is asked with urgency based on presumed need.”

Need: “Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you: And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith” (2 The. 3:1-2).

Do you people actually try and convert people out of the Methodist and Baptist churches?

Bro. Disciple said...

Since neither the Baptists nor the Methodists teach the truth on the gospel plan of salvation... YES!

Both of these man-made counterfeits have many other errors besides.

Remember Priscilla and Aquila taught Apollos the way more perfectly.

Paul rebaptized 12 who were called disciples.

Many denominationalists are near to the kingdom and simple need further understanding.

It has been one of Satan's greatest deceptions to corrupt the truth just enough to give people a false sense of security while remaining lost.

False churches teaching a false gospel make false converts with a false hope.

How can you honestly believe they are lost? What if they have never heard the gospel? Do you believe you must be a member of the "CHURCH OF CHRIST" to be saved?

2008 ring a bell?

How many people were saved outside the Ark? NONE, thus the need for people to be in the church that Jesus built (Mat. 16:18) in order to be saved (Eph. 5:25). If the church is not necessary Jesus died for naught (Acts 20:28).

God's Word, ring a bell?

Let's see:

Jesus built HIS church.
Jesus bought it with his own blood.

Jesus is the savior of the body.
The body is the church <> the church is the body.

There is only one body <> there is only one church.

Only the saved are added, by the Lord, to the church.

Only the saved are baptized, by the Spirit, into th body.

SO YES, only those who are in the church are saved. Only the saved are in the church. His church, not some man-made denomination.

The chief point to determine the Lord's church is the gospel plan of salvation.

The ark and the church are not completely parallel.

Wrong answer.

Acts 2:47

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

Perhaps you could explain to us how someone can be saved outside the church if the Lord adds everyone who should be saved to it?

Nick,

Rick did not say that they were "completely parallel," but clearly you see that there are parallels between the two. Read I Peter 3:18-21, Acts 2:42,47, and Matthew 7:13-14, 21. The Apostle Peter made the parallel before Rick did...

Not only is the ark parallel to the church but it continues to serve as a learning tool (Rom 15:4) to each generation. The problem I have with "liberals" is their failure to accept fundamental truths just because many within the Lord's church have held these truths in high esteem for years and years. In other words, just because it is old doesn't mean it is wrong! The least you liberals could do is give a solid arguement for your ideas rather than just asserting that which you cannot possibly prove.

Jack Cadenhead, my good friend, did a wonderful job illustrating the fact that an inspired apostle named Peter made the parallel far before any of us were even thought of.

I love the Bible because it refutes unsound doctrine on every page. Praise God for faithful brethren who love the truth.

Ark & Church

Only one of each
All the saved are in it
All the lost are outside it
One source of entry
One source of light
Plan and specs by God
Water separates the saved from the lost
