"I want to extend my deepest, sincerest, and most profound sympathies to the families of these victims ..."
-- Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger
I am sure that all who read this will have read, heard, or even seen the tradegy of Virginia Tech on Monday, April 16 2007 and like me did so with affright, abhorrence and anathema. We extend, with Mr. Steger, not only our sympathies but our prayers rise to the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort (2 Cor. 1:3) and the Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all (Eph. 4:6) give you aid in this hour of need.

Such kind words were well spoken. I agree with Rick. May the Lord of mercy soothe the aching hearts.
Brethren and Friends,
Please keep in your prayers a young lady by the name of Sarah. She is the daughter of an elder in the Lord's church.
She was beaten, tied up for 19 hours and raped repeatedly. She was burned with scalding water and some unknown chemical. He cut her hair, skin, face, and eye lids. Finally he lit the futon she was lying on, on fire and left her to die. However, as the fire burned the futon, it also burned the rope she was tied up with, which helped her to break free and escape to get help. She is severely burned over her body and face. An innocent, beautiful, and precious life has permanently been altered. The young girl now needs a liver transplant.
I will try and keep you informed as much as possible.

Rick,
May God's mercy be poured out in both instances. Wickedness reigns in the heart and minds of many. May we be the light that is needed to shine in the darkness and the salt to preserve in time of decay.
